Your initial osteopathic appointment is a 45-minute session that begins with a thorough health history. Your osteopathic practitioner will take the time to understand your symptoms, health background, lifestyle, and goals for treatment.
This will be followed by a dynamic assessment of how your body moves and functions. Assessment and treatment are often integrated throughout the appointment and may include soft tissue treatment, joint mobilization, range of motion testing, and other gentle manual techniques as needed.
The goal of osteopathic treatment is to restore proper body mechanics, improve circulation and nerve function, and ultimately help your body move and function the way it was designed to.
Treatment should feel gentle and relaxing, not painful. Following treatment, it is normal to experience mild soreness as your body adjusts. Any soreness typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
